CareCorner was born from a mother’s determination. Barbara, a mum in Perth, was juggling the care of her loved one, medical appointments, and endless notes and charts. She wanted something simpler - something that actually made life easier. That’s where CareCorner came in.
With CareCorner, families no longer have to scramble for information or recount hours of observations in stressful moments. Every detail - from medications to daily routines - is neatly tracked and instantly accessible. It’s not just an app; it’s a lifeline, giving carers confidence and families a sense of calm.
The Challenge
Having worked with CareCorner for a couple of years, it was becoming increasingly evident that the original CareCorner application (built by an offshore vendor) was significantly slowing the pace of delivery, was hard to maintain and would not scale sufficiently with the aspirations of the business. The only real option was to re-write the application to enable quicker speed to market and to support the scale required by the enterprise users CareCorner planned to onboard:
- Scalability: Infrastructure improvements to ensure it can adapt to meet new levels of demand.
- New Feature Development: Application re-write specifically around the data model to ensure new features did not require new tables and weeks of testing for minor enhancements.
- Cross Platform: Removing Flutter to ensure a single codebase built in React Native and delivered across multiple platforms for web and mobile using Expo.

What Mechanical Rock produced was an application which reduced feature delivery time in half, reduced errors by 80% after simple changes, was scalable and allowed for more progressive changes to be incorporated quickly - such as the ability to convert reports to PDF.
