Harnessing AI technology to automate digital asset management

Glove Boxx is pioneering a first-of-its-kind initiative to harness AI technology to develop its automated digital asset management solution.

Targeting a market of more than 20 million Australian licence holders and 26 million registered assets, the Glove Boxx solution transforms asset ownership by consolidating all vehicle and vessel maintenance records, documents, invoices, and manuals into one intuitive, secure platform.

Founder of Glove Boxx, Ryan Burger, drew on more than 20 years in a customer-facing repair industry, where he repeatedly saw customers lose records, make administrative errors and struggle to maintain asset value over time. Glove Boxx was designed as an efficient, convenient and reliable platform to support licence holders owning a vehicle or vessel, from end-to-end.

Ryan explains:

That foundation makes it easier to maintain the value of any unique serialised asset and solves a problem that every licence holder may experience over the course of their asset ownership.”

With the emergence of digital IDs and nationwide databases, paired with machine learning capabilities, the timing was right to turn this long-standing problem into a secure, dependable digital solution.

To bring the idea to life, Ryan engaged Mechanical Rock to turn the vision into a robust solution ready for user testing.

Glove Box POC AI-Powered Digital Asset Management Solution

Moving from ideation to a solid proof of concept in less than one month

Mechanical Rock was engaged to rapidly design and build a proof of concept that demonstrated core product value for the AI-powered digital asset management solution.

The proof of concept required:

  • a digital logbook supporting multi-owner asset maintenance,
  • integration with the NEVDIS broker API, and
  • AI-powered document scanning with automated data extraction.

Working closely with Ryan, the Mechanical Rock team ran product discovery and design workshops to map the customer journey and produce wireframes and visual concepts before moving straight into delivery.

Reflecting on the experience, Ryan shared:

Just 3.5 weeks after the initial workshops, Mechanical Rock delivered a robust, market-ready proof of concept, enabling Glove Boxx to begin gathering user feedback.

Developing a progressive web application powered by AI

Mechanical Rock built a progressive web application optimised for mobile use and powered by AI that accurately demonstrated its minimum viable product (MVP). This was developed using modern DevOps practices, including CI/CD with Github Actions, IaC using Terraform, AWS Cloud Native and Containerisation.

At the heart of the solution is an AI-powered document reader, allowing users to upload records and automatically extract and structure key information, which represents the key value proposition for users.

Ryan shared:

Using an agile delivery approach enabled rapid, iterative development cycles that focused on delivering value quickly, adapting to change and prioritising customer collaboration. This ensured continuous feedback and refinement throughout the project's 3.5-week timeline.

Beyond the core features, the proof of concept also included:

  • secure authentication with encrypted verification,
  • document upload and management,
  • task creation and management, and
  • Infrastructure-as-Code with CI/CD pipeline.

Mechanical Rock also set up and managed the solution infrastructure to allow seamless deployment and technical support, allowing Ryan to focus on product validation and customer feedback rather than technical overhead.

Delivering working software ready for rapid iteration

With a market-ready proof of concept delivered in less than a month, Glove Boxx was able to be validated against core product assumptions and iterated quickly based on real user feedback.
