Happy to Help: Mechanical Rock and Happiness Co expand their impact across WA

Right now across Perth, many people and families are one bill or one bad week away from real financial hardship. That's exactly why the Happy to Help program, delivered by the Happiness Co Foundation, exists, and why we're proud to announce we're stepping up to help deliver it this year.

At Mechanical Rock, we've always proudly shown up for Perth's tech community. But a few years back we asked ourselves: what can we do to show up for the wider community? We love to build new things, but we found the answer to this one wasn't, "Let's build our own thing from scratch." It was to find the people already doing incredible work to support the community and enable them to do even more.

Since 2022, that question has grown into an established Impact Partnership with Happiness Co, a Perth-born social enterprise on a mission to positively impact people's lives, encourage them to spread happiness, and help make the world a better place. Through this partnership, we've supported initiatives that improve mental health, wellbeing and community connection across Western Australia.

Last year, we partnered with Happiness Co to develop Happi, a secure, scalable and accessible AI wellbeing companion that provides immediate, 24/7 support. Designed to bridge the gap between everyday emotional wellbeing and clinical care, Happi delivers personalised, psychologically informed support at the moment people need it most.

This year, our partnership is expanding to support the Happy to Help program, delivered by the Happiness Co Foundation, the charitable arm of Happiness Co dedicated to providing practical support for people experiencing hardship.

The next chapter: Happy to Help

Happy to Help provides immediate relief to individuals and families by helping cover essential household bills or groceries while also supporting the wellbeing of their pets. More than financial assistance, the program restores hope, preserves dignity and reminds people that their community is standing beside them when life feels overwhelming.

The program delivers timely, practical support to people who need it most through the Foundation's established community networks and referral pathways across Western Australia. While no single initiative can solve every challenge, Happy to Help provides meaningful assistance at the moments it matters most, and we're proud to stand behind a program creating tangible impact every single week.

Reflecting on the growing partnership with Happiness Co, Mechanical Rock Founder, Hamish Tedeschi, shared:

"Not every problem needs a piece of software. Sometimes the best thing you can do is back people who are already doing great work and help them do more of it. That's what this partnership is all about and why we're in on the Happy to Help program as well."

Julian Pace, Founder of Happiness Co, added:

"The Happy to Help program is about reminding people that asking for help is a sign of strength, not weakness. Sometimes the difference between hope and hardship is having someone step in at the right moment. Thanks to Mechanical Rock's ongoing partnership, we're able to provide practical support when it's needed most—whether that's helping put food on the table, paying an essential bill, or simply letting someone know they're not facing life's challenges alone. Together, we're creating a community where kindness turns into action and no one has to struggle in silence."

Alongside Happy to Help, this year's partnership also includes a full calendar of wellbeing initiatives for the Mechanical Rock team and the wider community, as well as our continued role as Presenting Partner of the Happiness Gala.

Speaking about the expanded partnership, Sarah Wright, People and Culture Lead at Mechanical Rock, shared:

"What makes this partnership so special is the genuine passion on both sides to create a better future for our community. We're fortunate to be in a position to support organisations already making a real difference, and through the Happiness Co Foundation's Happy to Help program, we know that support is reaching people exactly when they need it most. If more businesses choose to back community-led initiatives like this, together we can create an impact far greater than any one organisation could achieve alone."
